Thai Father's Day

Fr. Mike came to the office in very good mood last Tuesday morning. His beloved Green Bay Packers had beaten the reigning Super Bowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs that morning and he made his way over to Ms. Kung's office in high spirits for what he thought was a meeting about upcoming projects on the farm. Instead he was ambushed by a surprise party to celebrate him on Thai Father's Day. There was a tribute made by one of the older girls, a representative from each house presented a gift to Fr. Mike and then the children lined up patiently to tie his wrists (a special Thai tradition to represent respect and good fortune), before all the kids were treated to ice-cream and soda. Fr. Mike was quite taken aback by the emotion at the ceremony and felt quite emotional himself. He is a greatly loved father to so many children and staff and he was overwhelmed by the love on display. It was a very meaningful and happy occasion and the children were delighted to participate in it for their father.
