New German volunteers

September saw the arrival of our four new volunteers from Germany. From the APO church in Oberhausen and Network M in Germany, David and Junis were warmly welcomed. After a short orientation, they were placed in their houses where they will live with and accompany the children through the next ten months of their lives.

From the Redemptorist Volunteer Ministry RVM in Bonn, Germany, Freya and Katya arrived. They have both been placed at St Patrick’s House, which is home to 15 little boys ranging from 3 to 10 years old. They girls have already shown a lot of energy, enthusiasm and humour to the little boys, who are always in need of affection and attention.

All the volunteers take the Sarnelli bus to and from school each day with the children, they play with and entertain the toddlers at House of Hope in the mornings and teach English in three local schools during the week. On the weekends, they are in demand as the children are home from school and are looking for activities. The volunteers get to rest and recharge on Mondays away from the children at Charlene House our guest house.

Sarnelli House is delighted to have these young people who take time out of their lives to discover a new culture and language and lend their talents and their hearts to the children of Sarnelli House.
