Another school year has ended, meaning another round of graduations. From kindergarten to grade 12 in senior high school, our children are reaching, and often surpassing, milestones that may once have seemed unlikely. As we have become more focused on education, we want the children to savour these moments, and for these days to serve as fuel for further achievement. All of the graduation ceremonies were attended by staff, housemothers and volunteers and later this month, a big party will be held in the hall as these moments are worthy of celebration.

Five children completed kindergarten, but only three were able to attend the ceremony as two poor things had the flu! We also had four girls and boys finish grade school, while four teenage boys said a fond farewell to junior high school at Rosario Wittaya. All four will continue with their studies. Three more teenage girls completed junior high school at a King’s school in Phon Pisai, with one receiving a special award for her good grades and another teenage girl graduated grade 9 from a nearby school in Nong Khai. All four girls will also continue in education.

Three young men and two young women completed senior high school or vocational school. One of the lads will study Sports Science in Udon Thani, another will continue his vocational training in construction studies, while the third will attend Pimali Hospitality training centre. The two girls studied at a very good high school in Khon Kaen, achieving excellent grades there. Both have already secured places in university, with one set to set Psychology and the other will read Law.

Some of these scholars came to Sarnelli House as infants and others as broken and abandoned children. To see their smiles on these days offers great encouragement for better days ahead. Thank you to all donors are sponsors for helping us to enable these kids take their next steps.
