Two years after the last one, another violent cyclone stormed through the small village of Don Wai past Saturday, causing enormous havoc. Our brand new Sharon Houminer House, home to five children living with severe physical disabilities, was the worst affected with a nearby tree ploughing through the roof. The house’s newest arrival, Lisa, was lying just under where the tree hit and was miraculously spared any injury. In fact, it was a miracle that nobody was hurt anywhere as trees fell and roofs were lifted in many areas. Farm buildings were damaged too, as were houses in the village.
The damage will take weeks to repair but roofs can be fixed. Everyone staying safe was the priority so we are enormously thankful to have such hardworking, quick thinking and sensible staff who ensured that our five little ones were kept safe.
