CeboRide 2012

The Annual fund-raising CeboRide took place on July 21st, 2012. This was the 11th CeboRide and it was also Cebo’s 18th birthday.

There were 26 riders and the funds raised will help cover the medical expenses for almost 70 HIV children living in Sarnelli House and many more who live with their families. The kids are lucky to have such good friends!

The CeboRide instruction took place the evening before. About 30 people showed up. There were 4 priests present: Frs Mike Shea (the founder and director of Sarnelli house), Joe Ole (a young Thai priest who works with Fr Mike at Sarnelli House), Chuck Beierwaltes and Dave Polek. The instruction was followed by a lovely, simple meal and the riders headed home to prepare for the day ahead.

The riders began their adventure at 5.30am on the morning of the 21st. It was a lovely day for the CeboRide as it was not too warm. Each wore a picture of children from Sarnelli House on their backs. The riders returned at 2.30pm, having cycled 101 miles in 9 hours. They had a most enjoyable time.

There was a massage service after the ride. This was followed by Mass at 4pm to thank the Lord for all the blessings these good and generous people provide for the children of Sarnelli House. The day finished with dinner, during which Fr Mike thanked Maggie Shea for doing a great job as treasurer of the Friends of Sarnelli House. Maggie is retiring after many years of service.

A special word of thanks is due to all of those who helped organize this year’s CeboRide and especially to Marian Sheridan for all her hard work. A Big Thanks to one and all!

We look forward to the CeboRide 12.
